While many European ski areas have, until recently, experienced light snowfalls, the opposite has been true for the ski areas of Utah. So far this winter season, Park City has received over 500 cms of the lightest, driest powder snow – for which Utah is famed - and it shows no sign of stopping! During a record eleven day period earlier in January more than 2 metres of snow floated down from the sky
The historic town of Park City, Utah is home to its namesake ski resort – the biggest in the USA, and Deer Valley – voted the best in the USA. With a short transfer time of just 35 minutes from Salt Lake City airport, and a new non-stop flight with Delta Airlines from London Heathrow, getting to the slopes is easier than ever.
During January, there is as much action off the slopes as on them, when the annual Sundance Film Festival takes over the town, showcasing the best in new independent film. Virtually every hotel bed is taken and getting restaurant reservations during the Festival, which this year runs from January 19-29th, can be quite a challenge. On the other hand, while Sundance visitors are busy with seeing films and conducting the business of films, the ski slopes are delightfully deserted. With 59 ski lifts, 401 named runs and 9,736 skiable acres – there is an abundance of snowy fun for everyone to enjoy.
