The First Boutique Villas in Kerala on Undiscovered Marari Beach

Marari Villas

'Marari Villas' was developed by Rupert and Olga; a British-Russian couple who have been living at Marari Beach for the last 4 years.  Before falling in love with this beautiful corner of Kerala, Rupert and Olga searched the whole of southwest India's golden coast from Mumbai down to Trivandrum. They were looking for their dream beach: miles of pristine white sands, fringed with cool shady coconut groves and more or less empty, other than a few local fishermen and abundant wildlife. And Marari, they discovered, had it all.

Marari Beach lies on a relatively undiscovered shore between the renowned backwaters of Alleppey and the cultural hub of Cochin and is the ideal destination for a relaxing weekend on the beach – whether as an individual, couple, honeymooner, group of friends or a family. It is ideally located as a base for your holiday being just 20 minutes away from the backwaters and within a few hours' drive of all major tourist destinations in central Kerala.

Marari Villas currently offers 3 villas; each serviced with a team of staff – private chef, villa host, housekeeper and security. Staff are trained to respect your privacy, but just ring the bell if you require service at any time! Orchid, is a contemporary recreation of an existing thatched bungalow, set beneath the shady palms, within a few minutes' walk of the dream beach. The second, Hibiscus, sits alongside Orchid - this they designed and built themselves (Rupert is a trained architect) using the reclaimed framework of a traditional Keralan wooden house. The third, Palm Villa, sits right on the beach and is contemporary with integrated elements of Keralan heritage buildings. They still have big plans - there are other villas in the pipeline - but the idea is to keep it small: each villa offering a secluded haven (your own living space, your own garden, some with a pool) with all the luxuries of a larger resort, but closer to nature, more intimate and better value.

Time spent at Marari Villas can be as active or relaxing as you wish. With an abundance of well organised activities that include cycling, market visits, cookery lessons, yoga instruction and feeding elephants to name a few. Alleppey backwaters are only 15 minutes away if you feel like a sunset cruise on a boat. There are great collections of games, books, music & DVDs provided in the villas as well as a host of family-friendly extras such as travel cots, baby changing equipment, child car seats etc.

Each villa has an exclusive chef, always on-hand to prepare your meals and snacks from breakfast to dinner according to your requirements and the 'Menu of the Day'. Specialities are local Keralan cuisine, but lunches also offer varied continental salads, burgers, sandwiches, soups and snacks.  Don't miss our Sunday BBQ with a great range of Grilled Seafood, Chicken Tikka and Roasted Paneer, which can be served under the stars on the beach!

We look forward to welcoming guests to our unique villas at Marari Beach.
