The England Cricket Team Is Set To Take On The West Indies For Three One Day Internationals In Antigua 28 February - 05 March 2014

Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority

Fresh from the Ashes, the England cricket team will be heading off to the Caribbean to face the West Indies and are expected to play at Antigua's iconic Sir Vivian Richards stadium on 28 February, 2 and 5 March. These three One Day International (ODI) matches will see the England team battle it out in arguably one of the Caribbean's most revered cricketing destinations.

True fans can also witness the unveiling ceremony of the new statue of Sir Vivian Richards at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Wednesday 26 February at 3:00 p.m. with a number of cricketing legends set to attend.

If the action on the field becomes all a bit too much, the barmy army can use their days off to explore Antigua and enjoy the local sites. Locations worth visiting include the historic Nelson's Dockyards with its beautiful colonial buildings and Devil's Bridge where the force of the ocean causes spray to rise high into the sky as the waves crash onto the land. After a successful day on the pitch, visitors can also try partying at Shirley Heights, renowned for its Jump Up BBQs and rum punch or even try swimming with stingrays.

For more adventurous tourists why not get out on the water whilst in the Sailing Capital of the Caribbean and have a go at a number of water based activities. Visitors can try their hand at anything from sailing and windsurfing to canoeing, water skiing and (for the brave!) have a go at kitesurfing. For a more relaxing water experience, visitors have the opportunity to sip champagne on a luxury yacht cruise around the island.

Cherrie Osborne, Director of Tourism for UK and Europe at the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority commented, "2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the first Antiguan to have played test cricket and we are very excited that England team supporters and cricket aficionados visiting Antigua can join with us as we celebrate this milestone. In addition to witnessing the unveiling of a new Sir Vivian Richards statue, visitors will also have the chance to experience a variety of activities Antigua has to offer, from seeing the sights and learning about the destination's history to exploring Antigua's action options both on water and dry land."
