Dorchester Collection’s iconic British hotel, The Dorchester, is to launch anti-ageing medical skin line ‘Molecular Cosmetics by Dr. Barbara Sturm’ at The Dorchester Spa from March 31. Facials and products will be exclusive to The Dorchester Spa in the UK and will include Dr Sturm’s cult MC1 cream, a patented skin replenishing cream formulated from an individual’s own blood cells.
Using cutting edge molecular science focusing on the function and activity of cells developed during Sturm’s work as an orthopaedic surgeon, the products and treatments help prevent the look of aging substantially without surgical or invasive procedures. The success of ‘Molecular Cosmetics by Dr. Barbara Sturm’ has seen her gain a dedicated global following of skin care enthusiasts who will travel for treatment.
Clients will have access to MC1 cream in the UK for the first time since the formula was created in 2003, through a practice performed exclusively by Dr Sturm. The treatment uses a patented process to extract and activate valuable proteins from the patient’s blood to create a tailor made skin cream that benefits skin cell rejuvenation by reducing inflammation, strengthening tissue and stimulating collagen growth.
Spa treatments and skin care products include the natural ingredient Purslane, a European herb rich in vitamins, minerals and nutrients, which stimulates the age-regulating enzyme ‘telomerase’ in skin cells. Purslane also contains the highest level of omega-3-acids otherwise found only in fish oil, an anti-aging ingredient that leads to skin regeneration.
The range of treatments incorporate three hydrating facials and three stimulating skin boosts for men and women, and the skin care line contains seven products. The signature treatment, Hollywood’s Top Secret - so named due to its popularity amongst Hollywood royalty before a red carpet appearance – is a collagen activating facial which includes mesotherapy for an instantly visible effect.
Also available for sale exclusively to The Dorchester Spa in the UK will be Dr Sturm’s Hyaluronic Ampoules, small sealed vials containing an intensive active concentrate of pure hyaluronic acid and Purslane both renowned for their regenerative properties for a smooth and firm complexion. These day and night concentrates replenish the skin’s moisture reservoirs reducing the appearance of fine lines and are ideal for the prevention and repair of sun damage, windburn, irritations and stress. The ampoules are best used as an intensive treatment lasting from one to three weeks. A pack of seven ampoules is priced from £132.
The Dorchester Spa reopened in 2009 following a multimillion pound extension and renovation offering exceptional spa brands Aromatherapy Associates, Carol Joy London and Kerstin Florian. In 2013 The Dorchester Spa added leading global brands La Prairie and Valmont to its menu of the ultimate skincare menu. The latest addition of ‘Molecular Cosmetics by Dr. Barbara Sturm’ brings a new medical approach to the range.
‘Molecular Cosmetics by Dr. Barbara Sturm’ spa treatments are priced from £134 for 60 minutes, MC1 cream is priced from £950 for 50ml including preparation and production. Notes to editors:
Dr. Barbara Sturm graduated from Heinrich Heine Universitaet Dusseldorf, one of the finest medical universities in the world, and became a medical doctor in 1999. She helped pioneer the injectable treatments in orthopaedic medicine called Orthokine (commonly referred to as the "Kobe Prodedure"). In 2004, Dr. Sturm invented the novel approach of translating her Orthokine work into facial aesthetics. With this natural and non-invasive approach, Dr. Sturm became one of the most exclusive and sought after aesthetics doctors in the world, with a focus on molecular anti-aging. Her clinical approach is the combination of non-surgical facelifts, deep cosmetic spa treatments that rejuvenate skin at the molecular level, and a home-based skin care regimen. She is known for the natural look, creating a younger appearance. Her clinic at the Königsallee in Düsseldorf is a pioneer in modern aesthetics treatments.
