The re-invention of the traditional inn. The Crown Inn in Amersham is not a hotel where the rooms dominate, but where the common spaces are the heartbeat of the place. The inns are engagingly English; we are like a family of individuals, as opposed to an identikit roll out. Only an hour from central London, at the end of the Metropolitan tube line and 40 minutes from Heathrow. Lodgings At the inn we provide simple creature comforts: wifi throughout, decent mattresses, pure cotton sheets with extra Jakob's wool blankets to make you feel at home. Room sizes range from bolthole to more spacious. Room 12 has an original hand painted wall which dates back to 1550 and is one of the finest examples found today at the British Museum. Eating and Drinking The kitchen is in the charge of the celebrated Rosie Sykes, providing locally sourced food served simply. Using local suppliers from Stockings Farm in nearby Denham who breed rare Gloucester Old Spot, to Kingcup Farm who supply beautiful vegetables. Open from breakfast until dinner, our 'back room' with inglenook fire can accommodate up to 40 and be hired for gathering and feasting. in our front room we can seat 36 for food and drink throughout the day and 32 in our bar with snug corners. Our menu changes daily and we bake our bread on site, for a quick and easy lunch with home cooked favourites: Slap Bang. Served Monday through to Saturday between 12-2pm. Priced at 9.90 for two courses and 12.90 for three courses. Weddings The Crown is a wonderful setting for a English Country Wedding. St Mary's parish church just a stone's throw away, has parts dating back to the 13th century. The 1682 Market Hall in front of the Crown is open on the ground floor can be used for gatherings under the arches, as well as the snug rooms and the protected cobbled courtyard at the inn. -Ends-
