This May, The Chesterfield Mayfair will be deliciously launching a new afternoon tea inspired by Roald Dahl's much loved book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which opens as a new stage musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June.

Already famous as one of London's best places for afternoon tea having received the "Award for Excellence" from The Tea Guild for an 'Outstanding Afternoon Tea' three years in a row, The Chesterfield Mayfair will offer the new afternoon tea daily from Monday, May 13th taking guests on a journey through the sweet, colorful, and of course, chocolate-y world of Charlie and friends!

Upon arrival at the hotel, guests are welcomed with a shot of a Fizzy Lifting Drink that sets the scene with a lingering sparkle on the tongue. Guests can then choose their tea from one of the hotel's 18 loose teas, which will include a special Willy Wonka tea.

An afternoon tea stand brings together a feast of creative sweet treats, as follows:

• The Oompa Loompa Cupcake
• A Golden Egg
• A Blueberry Macaroon
• The famous Wonka Bar
• A Fizzy Lifting Cake
• A selection of Chocolate Chip Scones
• A selection of Fruit Scones served with Clotted Cream and Jam

A selection of delicious finger sandwiches will complement the treats, including: Ham and Cheese with Tomato Chutney; Egg and Watercress on Basil; Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese; Chicken with Grain Mustard Mayonnaise on White; and the classic Cucumber and Cream Cheese.

To end this adventure, each guest finishes off with an Everlasting Gobstopper, candy cane and lollipop, the ideal selection of sweets to eat on your way home!

The magic continues as guests leave with a 'Chesterfield Mayfair Golden Ticket' just like Charlie does in the book. This golden ticket inside an envelope offers guests a chance to win a selection of fantastical treats at the hotel, with every ticket a guaranteed win. Prizes will vary from a two-night weekend stay in a Junior Suite, an overnight stay in a Superior King room, magnum of Champagne, a discount on your next afternoon tea, and a complimentary glass of Champagne on your next visit.   

Coinciding with the mystery and curiosity that Charlie encounters along his feast - each golden ticket given to guests can only be revealed upon their next visit to the hotel, at which point they can finally open their envelope and discover what treat they have won!

The new afternoon tea is available this summer from May to September, priced at $52 per person plus service charge. It is available daily at Butlers Restaurant, a traditional and opulent setting which leads into the light and elegant Conservatory.
