The Chesterfield Mayfair hotel is pleased to announce the launching of its new afternoon tea, inspired by Roald Dahl's much-loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which opened as a new stage musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June. Complete with Wonka Bars, everlasting gobstoppers and even golden tickets, this indulgent tea takes guests on a journey through the sweet, colorful and chocolate-y world of Charlie and friends.

The Chesterfield Mayfair is already known for being one of London's best places for afternoon tea, having received the “Award for Excellence” from the Tea Guild for an “Outstanding Afternoon Tea” three years in a row. This imaginative rendition includes a feast of creative treats including:

• Oompa Loompa cupcakes
• Golden eggs
• Blueberry macaroons
• Wonka bars
• Fizzy lifting cake
• Chocolate chip scones
• Fruit scones served with clotted cream and jam

 A selection of savory finger sandwiches complement the treats, and guests receive an everlasting gobstopper, candy cane, lollipop and “golden ticket” to take home. Each golden ticket, safely tucked inside a closed envelope, offers guests a variety of fantastic treats ranging from a two-night weekend stay in a Junior Suite to complimentary magnums of Champagne. Every ticket is a guaranteed win, but coinciding with the mystery and curiosity Charlie encountered at the factory, guests are only allowed to open their ticket upon their next visit to the hotel. 

 The “Charlie & the Chesterfield Afternoon Tea” is available through September and is priced from $45 per person, plus service charge. The tea is held at Butlers Restaurant, an opulent setting leading into the light and elegant Conservatory.
