25 March 2014, Colombo – Staying true to their tradition of pioneering discoveries and raising the bar within the tourism industry of Sri Lanka, the country's premier hospitality brand Jetwing Hotels is all set to launch Yathra by Jetwing, a luxury houseboat that will be the first of a planned four.
Yathra by Jetwing is designed to be a journey that will evoke a thousand emotions, and one to be shared amongst your family, friends, or significant other. The first of its kind, the design is inspired by the houseboats of the Kerala backwaters and upgraded to the star class status that Jetwing is famed for. Featuring two cabins, brilliantly and lovingly designed with comfort and comfort alone in mind along with attached bathrooms and private balconies as well as private dining areas, Yathra by Jetwing sails on the mysterious and beautiful Bentota River.
Crafted from bamboo, thatch and metal, Yathra by Jetwing is an architectural masterpiece - a fusion of old-world nautical accomplishment and modern technology. The very name, 'Yathra', means 'journey' in Sanskrit – fitting for the experience offered. Setting sail in April 2014, the Bentota River becomes a destination of its own, full of man-made sights and nature's wonder all witnessed from the comfort from your very own boat.
“At Jetwing, we have always believed in something new. We love to create, and push boundaries that will give us and our visitors new opportunities and experiences in this beautiful land of ours. Through Yathra by Jetwing, we embark (literally!) on a journey that is completely different to anything done before.” said Hiran Cooray, Chairman of Jetwing.
Family owned and in the tourism industry for the past 40 years, Jetwing Hotels has surpassed expectation at every aspect. Building on their foundation of being passionate, as well as the experience of true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, constantly pioneering discoveries captures the essence of the brand. Such a strong statement and direction have enabled Jetwing Hotels to imagine, create and manage marvels and masterpieces, where distinctive design and elegant comfort complement each other and the environment. Considered a priority, sustainable and responsible practice is implemented through the award winning Jetwing Eternal Earth Programme; with energy efficiency, community upliftment, and education of earth saving measures to schoolchildren being a few tenets of the Programme.
