Blue Train

We are delighted to announce that in 2017 The Blue Train will be doubling the frequency of its Hoedspruit departures.  The Blue Train will make four round trips to the Limpopo Province offering guests the choice of eight spectacular 19-hour one way journeys.  These new departures will enable some fantastic new “rail safari” combination packages with the many wildlife reserves and private safari lodges in the Greater Kruger and Sabi Sands area in both Limpopo and neighbouring Mpumalanga.

For those wanting to take The Blue Train northbound, the train will travel from Pretoria, departing at 15h00 on selected Friday afternoons, arriving at Hoedspruit at 10h00 on Saturday morning on: 17 March, 16 June, 7 July and 11 August 2017.  Those wanting to enjoy the rail journey after their safari can opt to travel southbound, departing Hoedspruit on selected Saturday afternoons at 15h00, arriving in Pretoria on the Sunday mornings at 10h00, allowing plenty of time for those wanting to catch international flights home. The dates are 18 March, 17 June, 8 July and 12 August 2017.

These one way journeys between Pretoria and Hoedspruit in either direction take 19 hours as opposed to the usual 31 hours between Cape Town and Pretoria and cost around R9000 less per person (about half the normal price) – an attractive option for those with this “Blue Jewel” on their travel bucket list on a tighter budget.
