THE BGTW CONGRATULATES THE QUEEN ON HER 63-YEAR REIGN NOTING HER VISITS TO 116 COUNTRIES
The British Guild of Travel Writers has sent a letter to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II congratulating her on her “unique, impressive and highly-valued achievement as the country's longest reigning monarch” as well as her contribution to international understanding through her visits to countries throughout the world.
“During those 63 years you have visited some 116 countries where your dedication, charm and understanding of their cultures has not only enhanced the image of the United Kingdom overseas but brought back to us more knowledge and appreciation of their countries and cultures,” BGTW chair Mary Moore Mason wrote on behalf of the Guild.
The 55-year-old Guild of around 270 travel writers, editors, photographers, bloggers and broadcasters will also be sending Her Majesty a copy of its 290–page 2015-2016 Yearbook containing not only profiles of its members but also other invaluable travel industry information. On its cover is a photograph of the Queen surrounded by photographs of the faces of men, women and children from around the world, all of them in splendid hats, as is the Queen.
