WHAT: The American Chemical Society (ACS), the world's largest scientific society, will hold its 244th National Meeting & Exposition at the expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center August 19 - 23, supporting the statistic that 50 percent of all meetings and conventions held in Philadelphia are life sciences-related.
This is the first time ACS has met in Philadelphia since 2008, prior to the opening of the expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The meeting will focus on the theme, “Materials for Health & Medicine,” but include reports ― 8,600 in all ― on new discoveries that span science horizons. Especially newsworthy topics range from chemistry's role in establishing the innocence of people wrongly convicted of murder to a spray-on coating to keep America's favorite fresh fruit (that's the banana) from ripening so quickly.
