The Active Travel Show

The UK's newest travel show, The Active Travel Show will return to London's ExCeL from 17th - 20th January 2013. After launching in January 2012, the show will return with a great range of tourist boards, tour operators and activity providers providing a fantastic opportunity for visitors to find something new and exciting. The show also has a new media partner in the shape of National Geographic Traveller (UK).

 

The National Geographic Traveller Travel Stage will be braced by an amazing band of travel writers and adventurers all wanting to share their experiences with visitors. Adventure traveller and TV star Charley Boorman is confirmed to speak on the Friday and Saturday of the show. Animal Man, are also confirmed for each day and will be bringing a mix of reptiles, mammals, amphibians, birds and invertebrates - providing fantastic entertainment for adults and children. More speakers will be confirmed shortly.

 

The stage will also host the National Geographic Traveller Photography, and National Geographic Kids Photography Awards.  The best photographs from each competition will be featured in exhibitions at the show.

 

To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the first successful ascent of Mt. Everest, dressed with prayer flags the show's centrepiece will be a traditional Sherpa Tea House providing visitors with a range of refreshments.

Year Out Expo returns to The Active Travel Shown in 2013 offering free gap year and career break advice direct from the experts. Visitors will be able to attend free talks, meet all kinds of travel, volunteer and work placement organisers and find out all the information needed to set off on your travels.

 

That's not everything! The Active Travel Show will once again run alongside The Outdoors Show, The London Bike Show and the Tullet Prebon London Boat Show. With a ticket to The Active Travel Show allowing visitors access into all four shows, there will be lots more to see and do, helping to create a entertaining, affordable day out for all visitors.

The Outdoors Show will feature talks from great adventurers, outdoor experts, as well as amazing photographers in the Outdoor Photography Photobox. The Climbing Village, Careers Zone, an Everest Exhibition: 60 Years on Everest, slacklining and Farmers Market make up what promises to be a great show. There will also be over 150 stands selling the latest clothing, equipment and providing you with first hand information on the latest products.

The London Bike Show features the UK's first indoor criterium, the IG London Nocturne, a host of cycling experts and great entertainment for the whole family in the shape of a huge vert ramp featuring some of the UK's best BMX riders. In addition there will also be over 100 stands of the latest bikes, accessories and equipment.

 

Visitors can compliment their visit to The Active Travel Show with some Beer or Wine Tasting, courtesy of Beer Boutique and Virgin Wines respectively in the Globe Taste Experience. Expert sommeliers will be on hand to talk visitors through the beers and wines from all over the world. Tickets for the tastings, which cost £10 per person, per session can be booked in advance through The Outdoors Show box office.

The Active Travel Show takes place from 17 - 20 January 2013 at ExCeL, London alongside The Outdoors Show, The London Bike Show and the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show, with tickets valid for entry to all four shows.

 

The Active Travel Show launched in 2012. The Outdoors Show has been going for 12 years and The London Bike Show was launched in 2011. The three events combined with the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show at ExCeL London in 2012 and attracted an audience of 85,912, making it the largest consumer event in Europe for outdoors enthusiasts.

 

The Active Travel Show, The London Bike Show and The Outdoors Show are organised by VOS Media. The Tullett Prebon London Boat Show is organised by National Boat Shows, a subsidiary of the British Marine Federation.
