The 'Best for Service' Award for Chewton Glen

Chewton Glen

On Monday 6th November at an award ceremony held at London's May Fair Hotel, to mark the 36th Annual Condé Nast Johansens 2018 Awards for Excellence, Chewton Glen received two awards, firstly as the winner of the 'Best Service' category and also for the 'Most Innovative Wine List'.

A spokesman for Condé Nast Johansens said: “When a hotel's received as many accolades, expectations run high on arrival. But despite this, you'll still be blown away, even if you're a returning guest because Chewton Glen is always improving (even when it doesn't seem possible) and evolving. There's certainly no restriction with space thanks to the acres of gardens and parkland at the edge of the New Forest; the sea's only a gentle 10-minute stroll away too.”

Chewton Glen is renowned for continually innovating and evolving, recent additions include the fabulous Treehouses suites, with the largest and most secluded Treehouse opening just last month and 'The Kitchen', an exciting meet, eat, cook venue overseen by TV Chef James Martin which opened in the spring.  Commenting on the award, Mark Bevan, Chewton Glen's General Manager said: “With a team of over 350, service excellence is central to all areas of operation at Chewton Glen and we are thrilled that this has been recognised in the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence, this is a tremendous achievement for the whole team.”

“We are also thrilled to have received the award for the 'Most Innovative Wine List'. Our team of sommeliers are inspired to continue to innovative and enhance our listing of over 1966 individual wines, making our list one of the largest in England in terms of producers, regions and diversity. Our aim is to showcase up and coming styles that we think are quirky and individual, whilst tipping our hat to the most reputable wine growing regions of the world.  We endorse the UK wine industry with the country's largest selection of sparkling wines from across England and Wales and take great pleasure and pride in offer 100 dessert wines especially selected to match our pudding seasonal offers.  The team of sommeliers at Chewton Glen is always on hand to offer guidance and to serve our wines with passion and enthusiasm.”

Concluding, Mark Bevan said: “I would also like to congratulate our sister property, Cliveden House in Berkshire, who won the award of 'Best New or Back on the Scene Luxury Spa' in the Condé Nast Johansens awards, following the completion of a remarkable restoration project at this iconic property.”
