On July 7th, InterContinental Hong Kong's 2-Michelin star Cantonese restaurant Yan Toh Heen is partnering with KRUG for an Exclusive Champagne Dinner showcasing a 6-course gourmet menu of award-winning Cantonese cuisine by Executive Chef Lau Yiu Fai paired with four KRUG Champagnes. The dinner is HK$2,988 + 10% service per person, with each guest receiving a complimentary bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée NV, signed by Mr. Julien Pepin Lehalleur, Krug Business Development Manager. (Each bottle of Krug Grand Cuvée NV, the embodiment of Joseph Krug's vision, takes twenty years to create.)
The exclusive Champagne Pairing Dinner includes:
Krug Grande Cuvée NV (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier)
Over twenty years are needed to create each bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée, elaborated beyond the notion of vintage to offer the most generous Champagne in the world with exceptional finesse.
Krug Grande Cuvée is the living embodiment Joseph Krug's vision when he founded the House in 1843. He believed Champagne was about pleasure, and he wanted to offer his clients an ultimate experience of pleasure with his Champagnes every year, regardless of the annual variations in climate.
Krug Grande Cuvée is thus the signature of the House and archetype of Krug's philosophy and savoir faire. Taking the art of blending to its highest level, Krug follows each small plot individually, preserving the character of each wine.
Every year, from 250 wines harvested and some 150 wines from Krug's library of reserve wines spanning more than 10 years, Cellar Master Eric Lebel selects over 120 wines to compose Krug Grande Cuvée. Blending so many different characters from different years, followed by a rest of at least six years in the cellars, gives Krug Grande Cuvée its unique fullness of flavours and aromas, its incredible generosity and absolute elegance - impossible to express with the wines of a single year. Over twenty years are necessary to create one bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée.
Krug Vintage 2000 (42% Pinot Noir, 43% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier)
Krug 2000 is rich, precise, complex and indulgent. It is one of the most intense, dramatic and romantic Krug Vintages ever made.
Krug Clos du Mesnil 2000 (100% Chardonnay)
Krug Clos du Mesnil 2000, very rare Champagne, showcases the unique character of a walled single plot of Chardonnay, harvested in 2000.
Krug Rosé NV (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier)
Krug Rosé is unexpected, both sensual and daring. It shows a broad and extensive aromatic palette, unusual for a Rosé Champagne.
Krug Rosé is the only prestige Champagne Rosé blended from a rich palette of wines from three grape varieties, from different years, combined with a very expressive skin-fermented Pinot Noir wine, which provides unparalleled colour and spiciness. A stay of at least five years in the cellars offers Krug Rosé its very subtle bubbles, long ending and impressive elegance.
Krug Rosé is the first prestige Rosé Champagne to be re-created every year. It is a reinvented Rosé Universe by Krug based on elegance and sensuality while having an overwhelming capacity to pairing with tasty food. Krug Rosé, like all Krug Champagnes, can age beautifully.
Yan Toh Heen's Executive Chef Lau Yiu Fai has created a gourmet Cantonese menu which pairs beautiful with the Krug Champagne.
Guests will dine on a menu of:
- Baked Lobster with Portuguese Sauce paired with the Krug Grande Cuvée NV
- Wok-fried Crab Claw with Egg Whites with Homemade XO Chili Sauce followed by Wok-Seared Garoupa with Soya Sauce & Wok fried Salt-Roasted Matsutake Mushrooms served with the Krug Vintage 2000
