According to a recent Travel Smart study carried out by accommodation booking giant, agoda, four of Thailand's hidden gems are ranked among the Top 10 Asian destinations growing in popularity with travellers globally.
Emerging tourism regions Koh Kood, Koh Lipe, Koh Lanta, and Khao Lak are included in a list of Asia's 10 fastest growing destinations according to the latest Travel Smart Study.
The result confirms predictions that travellers to Asia are showing a growing preference for lesser-known destinations, for a more unique and authentic experience. The Top 10 destinations include Niseko (Japan), Banaue (Philippines), Koh Kood (Thailand), Koh Lipe (Thailand), Koh Rong (Cambodia), Koh Lanta (Thailand), Harbin (China), Tangalle (Sri Lanka), Siquijor Island (Philippines), and Khao Lak (Thailand) respectively.
Khao Lak, famous for its white sand beaches offers a level of tranquillity not often found in Phuket and is also the jump-off point to Thailand's best diving destination, Muko Similan. Close to the border of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Kood is known for its stunning beaches, clear water and picturesque bays, the perfect destination for those who prefer a quiet and friendly atmosphere. Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta are both beautiful islands, each with uncrowded white sandy beaches surrounded by colourful coral reefs, simply teeming with marine life, and the sunsets on Koh Lanta are legendary.
Tropical islands continue to attract travellers looking for holiday spots off the beaten track however, travellers are adopting more adventurous approach to travel, exploring new, undiscovered places.
Ms.Rujiras Chatchalermkit, TAT Sydney Director said, “Tourism Authority of Thailand continues to promote Thailand's hidden gems, places not many people have visited before, in order to help them to discover new locations and unique local experiences to give them a greater appreciation for the Thai culture and way of life.”
