Terme Beach Resort

Terme Beach Resort situated in Ravenna, in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, is a modern, single-storey wooden property located directly on an 80 meter wide sandy stretch of beach overlooking the Adriatic Sea. A pinewood forest provides the hotel with a cool, verdant backdrop.

Prompting comparison with the architectural style of Cape Cod, this independent hotel prides itself on its high level of personal service and 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. Its clean, simple lines and pared down décor are in sharp contrast to the sheer number of things to do and places to visit in a one hour radius alone.

These include visiting:

  • Ravenna – the resting place of Dante, father of the Italian language, and home of the famed Ravenna Festival which this year is celebrating its 26th birthday. The city is famed for its stunning mosaics including those in the Basilica di San Vitale, Galla Placidia mausoleum and various other locations in the town
  • Rimini – this coastal town is the birthplace of movie director Frederico Fellini
  • Bologna – Italy's food capital
  • Ferrara – known as the City of the Renaissance
  • Cervia – on the Po Delta this nature reserve includes ancient Etruscan salt flats, where a subtle, perfumed salt is still made by hand
  • Cesenatico – an unspoilt fishing port.

Aquatic activities include:

  • swimming
  • sailing
  • kayaking
  • kite and wind surfing
  • deep sea fishing
  • stand up paddling

On terra firma there is:

  • yoga
  • trekking
  • jogging
  • Nordic walking
  • cycling
  • bird watching
  • exceptional food and wine featuring local produce
  • shopping (ceramics are particularly distinctive)

Runners and walkers will be interested to hear that the beach can be walked or run across for 15 continuous kilometres, which translates into a 30km round trip. This is the only place on the Adriatic that this can be done. Other beach activities include horse riding, tennis and volleyball.

The hotel is also suitable for families – the wide sandy beach provides a long, shallow access into the Adriatic Sea, perfect for younger family members.

SPA AND WELLNESS

Situated above mineral rich thermal springs have given rise to the hotel's spa and wellness annex, the Terme di Punta Marina Spa. The treatments offered here are ideal both for health, as well as cosmetic reasons (sauna, various massages and numerous beauty treatments) whilst the indoor swimming pool is perfect both for children (three months to 14 years of age) with a range of aquatic activities as well as swimming lessons, and for adults who will love the constant 33 degree temperature.

The hotel has 26 rooms, of which eight have direct access to the beach with private terraces, whilst six face towards the quiet internal garden courtyard and six are family suites that can accommodate two adults and two children comfortably. Children aged up to four years stay for free and are half price from 4-12 years of age.

ACCESS

The nearest airport, reached in an hour by car, is Bologna, serviced by a number of daily flights including BA from Heathrow and Ryan Air from Stansted. The hotel also offers free return airport/hotel transfers for guests (minimum number three people).

For customers booking direct, the hotel can book any number of things in advance, ranging from tickets to Ravenna Festival performances, car hire, restaurant reservations and transfers. On-site hotel cycles are available for hire, free of charge.
