Tenerife Tourism Corporation has just been announced as the winner of the highly regarded European Routes Awards, scooping the Destination Marketing award in recognition of its international marketing efforts.
The esteemed awards, which were created in 1997, recognise excellent in airport and destination marketing as voted by airlines and are highly sought after accolades within the air service development community. They are voted for and judged by the airline network planning community. This year marked the first time an award was granted to a tourism authority in recognition of its marketing efforts.
The Tenerife Tourism Corporation was recognised for its outstanding marketing efforts over the last 12 months, which have made a real impact on its future network development plans. The prize winners, comprised of airports and tourism authorities, were recently announced at a Budapest Networking Evening on 13th May 2013.
Miguel Angel Santos, chief executive of the Tenerife Tourism Corporation, comments: "We are thrilled to have won the Destination Marketing Award at the prestigious European Routes Awards. We have worked very hard, internationally, at repositioning our beautiful island through marketing campaigns which challenge the outdated stereotypes some still hold of the destination, and to be recognised and rewarded by our airline partners for this work is truly pleasing."
