Adtemexi Cruz was elected Tenerife Carnival Queen 2015 at an exciting gala which took place on 11th February, in the island's capital, Santa Cruz. The 27-year-old wore a spectacular costume with black and golden tones, called 'Aurea' and designed by islander Jorge González, which amazed both the public and the judges due to its elegance and brightness.

The Queen Election Gala is one of the most awaited events in Tenerife's Carnival. A total of 14 candidates paraded in glamorous costumes that, in most cases, are more than five metres' high and weigh over 80 kilos. All of them followed this year's carnival theme, which pays tribute to “the future”. A great number of artists, including music groups, trapeze artists and even “robots”, added to the evening's magic ambiance.

The Queen Election Gala marks the start of Tenerife's biggest celebration, the Carnival, which is considered the world's second largest festival of its kind after Rio. Some of the events that visitors can experience if they're in Santa Cruz these days are the “Opening Procession” (Friday 13th February); “el Coso” (17th February), the carnival's main parade; and the “Burial of the Sardine” (18th February), when the carnival comes to a symbolic end although the partying carries on for a few more days – until 22nd February.
