Theodore Roosevelt comes to life in a theatre performance by actor-historian Derek Evans at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center July 19 - 23. Evans entertains and educates audiences with a forty-five minute dramatic portrayal of the 26th president of the United States.
Shows are free with regular museum admission; show times are at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.
"He's not on Mt. Rushmore by accident," says Evans of "Teddy" Roosevelt, "He was a politician, an author, a soldier, a conservationist, an athlete, a philosopher, an adventurer, a scholar, a teacher, a visionary, a father, and a Nobel Prize winner."
Evans is from Chicago, was educated at various accredited theatres and universities across the country, and has received enthusiastic recommendations from the White House Visitors Center where he has performed in Washington D.C.
He has toured nationally, performing in such places as the Oak Park Shakespeare Festival, the Body Politic, the Northlight Theatre, and the Court Theatre, among others.
The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is open daily 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. through the summer. Five museums are devoted to Western cultural and natural history: the Whitney Gallery of Western Art, Buffalo Bill Museum, Plains Indian Museum, Cody Firearms Museum, and the Draper Museum of Natural History in addition to the McCracken Research Library.
