Australian Technology Park Sydney

Australian Technology Park (ATP) Conference Centre recently switched on an extensive wireless internet upgrade, covering each of the event spaces inside its 14 hectare business precinct in central Sydney. Set in the heritage listed Eveleigh Railway Workshops – which were home to one of Australia's largest manufacturing sites from 1885 to 1986 – the upgrade sees some of today's latest technology set within some of the country's most tangible industrial heritage.

At Sydney's most unique convention and exhibition venue, ATP Conference Centre seeks out original and outside-the-square platforms to enhance the event experience for their clients and attendees.

This advanced WiFi infrastructure adds to an existing range of high-tech support for the Conference Centre's multi-purpose venues, from high-speed optic fiber which enables limitless network configurations, to the latest video conferencing equipment – and more.
ATP partnered with Xirrus, the world's leading provider of wireless networks, to roll out new WiFi capable of handling the intense real-time demands of the thousands of visitors who attend ATP events each day.

Ruby Chronis, ATP's Director of Sales and Marketing says the Conference Centre's WiFi can now cater for more than 5,000 concurrent users across the entire site.

“This upgrade provides greater technical scope and enhanced reliability for our clients,” Ruby said. “For instance, in our Exhibition Hall, the network can quickly scale up from supporting 2,000 concurrent users to more than 5,000 concurrent users – providing security and certainty for public events which experience a sudden surge in attendees.

“As exhibitors and event managers are seeking out ever more dynamic options to create a 'buzz' at their events, we are thrilled to provide a technical platform which allows that 'next level' technology to be put into action. We are seeing this with increased use of touch screens and real-time social media involvement at our clients' events.”

The network architecture scales without impacting performance, doesn't need any additional wiring or access points and is designed to evolve with changes in WiFi technology and standards. The suite of WiFi-optimised solutions provides seamless connectivity and unified management across a network.

The WiFi platform supports innovations such as digital communication stands hosting touch screens or tablets, allows attendees to explore conference content in-depth via web, video and two-way chat on polling and social media. An event's hashtag and associated commentary can be aligned with every aspect of the function, rapidly featured in moderated comments on screens to show attendees how their online input will shape future decisions. ATP Conference Centre is ready to take your event to the next level.
