For the past eight years Cradle Mountain Lodge has hosted Tastings at the Top � three days and nights of indulgence tasting, discussing and enjoying the legendary foods and wines of Tasmania and all in the interests of learning of course!

The event is a highlight on Tasmania�s event calendar and food-lovers from all over (as well as locals) are keen to learn the dates each year so they can plan their visit to Cradle Mountain to coincide with the event and confirm their place at the top.

Each year, Tastings At The Top is hosted by different food and wine personalities who bring their own focus to the event - though tutored wine-tastings, wine blending exercises, food and wine trivia quizzes, cooking demonstrations and of course lots of sampling are core components.

And it�s all rather hard to take�produce from King Island Dairies to be sampled, Tassal Salmon and local seafood to be trialed, biscuits and breads to be nibbled and washed down with Pipers Brook wines, Mercury Cascade Cider and a variety of Tasmanian boutique wines and whiskies. And then there are the meals � five-course gourmet dinners that feature local produce matched with local wines.

The fact that all this takes place in the spectacular Tasmanian World Heritage wilderness area means that guests can also walk off some of their indulgences.

In 2001, Tastings at the Top took place over the weekend of 23 June �commencing the afternoon of Saturday 23 and concluding the afternoon of Tuesday 26. Packages started from $720 per person twin share (inclusive of GST) and included 4-nights accommodation in private timber cabins (extra night free), breakfast and all scheduled Tasting At The Top activities.

The 2002 Tastings at the Top dates have been confirmed for 22-24 June.
