Taste Taiwan at the Taiwan Culinary Exhibition

June 2016: The Taiwan Culinary Exhibition is a popular, four day event which attracts people from across the country and further afield to taste the delights of Taiwanese cuisine. Held from 5th – 8th August 2016 at the Taipei World Trade Centre, the theme for this year's event is 'Taiwan's era of pure food' so visitors can expect a host of dishes which originated many years ago and are still as popular today.

Cuisine across Taiwan forms a huge part of the culture, with restaurants and food vendors around every corner bustling with people wanting to sample some of the most flavoursome Taiwanese dishes. The Taiwanese are incredibly proud of their cuisine, described as a melting pot of dishes from China and Japan which is why the annual Taiwanese Culinary Exhibition proves so popular, and attracts visitors coming from across Asia and further afield to take part in this celebration of the country's distinctive gastronomy.

The exhibition aims to showcase some of the country's more unusual dishes including oyster pancakes and stinky tofu which are sure to treat and surprise visitors' taste buds. The event is split into six separate exhibition areas; culinary arts, culinary utensils, culinary ingredients, culinary journeys, culinary souvenirs and culinary education, throughout which, some of Taiwan's best-known restaurants and food vendors will be showcasing their signature dishes, with endless opportunities to taste the region's most indigenous flavours. The event is filled with an array cooking competitions, demonstrations and foodie gifts to celebrate and highlight the origins of Taiwanese cuisine.
