TAP Air Portugal Announce Their New Summer Schedule

TAP Air Portugal

New European and long haul destinations are amongst the features in TAP Air Portugals new summer schedule effective 29MAR04.

In recognition of the increasing popularity of Madeira in both the leisure and conference/incentive markets in the UK, an additional service will be introduced to Funchal from Gatwick. This brings to a total of 5 the number of direct weekly services between London and Funchal. The new Friday service will complement the existing Tuesday and Saturday services from Gatwick and the Thursday/Sunday services from Heathrow. The date of the first flight will be 02APR04.

Passengers have risen year on year to Brazil since 1999. Last year TAP carried over 530,000 passengers, and Brazil as a destination is responsible for 20 percent of all TAP flown revenue. To cope with this increasing demand, additional services are planned for Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza. This will result in all 5 existing destinations (So Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Fortaleza and Recife) having daily services from Lisbon. In addition, for the period June-September 2004 a new 3x weekly service to Natal will be introduced. This will bring the number of flights operated from Portugal to Brazil up to 38 per week. Making TAP Brazils most frequent European visitor!

Closer to home, Venice will benefit from a new 4x weekly service from Lisbon starting in June 2004. Also starting in June and to coincide with the expansion of the European Union, a new 3x weekly service to Prague and Budapest will be introduced.
