Name: Arthuro B. Bontia

What/who inspired you to become a chef?

My mother inspired me, in so many ways she influenced my career choice.

How long have you been a chef?

Wow…for the past 18 years, imagine!

Highlights in your career:

(Laughs) to be honest I think its here in Phakalane, I’ve never been to Africa so when this opportunity came I just had to take it. It’s amazing!

Favourite culinary style:

Filipino, Japanese and Chinese

Favourite dish:

My own special beef caldereta & sushi food

What is the worst meal that you have ever had?

(Laughs) well that’s easy; it would have to be a cake baked by yours truly!

Trick up your sleeve:

When making food that requires fresh chili, I use chili paste or chili powder just to add the spiciness. Another one is when cooking in Hibachi I make my cooking an art by doing a few tricks in front of the guest…that’s my little show! To be a Chef is not easy; one must be determined and have abundant passion and creativity. Cooking should be from the heart in order to enjoy and love the profession if one wants to be a successful Chef. One last thing…as a chef I never stop studying and am keen to learn and discover ideas not only in books or online but from other chefs too. Never be selfish and share your knowledge with younger Chefs…trust me they will teach you a thing or two!!

Name: Lloyd Nyowani

Favourite culinary style:

Japanese

Favourite dish:

Easy…Chicken Curry

What is the worst meal that you have ever had?

With my love for food…honestly I’ve never had a bad meal.

Trick up your sleeve:

Hhhmmm…I don’t know yet but in all honesty everything I do is new and will definitely take me there! My passion is well pronounced by charisma when making food, to me its important to exuberate
