Take to the Open Road and Explore Champagne and Ardenne by Motorbike

Hit the open road on a motorbike to experience the thrill of travelling off the beaten track to explore heritage sites, vineyards and gastronomic hotspots and the stunning panoramas of Champagne and Ardenne, all with easy access from the northern ports.

Each route has been produced from Michelin Guides and Roadtrip Magazine, created by and for bikers from the unique perspective of two wheels and the open road.   From the Langres plateau in the south to the vineyards of the Marne, driving through the Ardenne forests or the lakes of the Aube, there's an ever-changing seasonal backdrop to appreciate and explore.  Roadbooks for each trail consists of 4 pages compiled with the input of experienced bikers with practical maps detailing each section of the route with GPS directions and distances for each stage.  See www.champagne-ardenne-tourism.co.uk/discover/motorbikes-trips

There are 7 well-planned itineraries covering the highlights of the region:

1           The Montagne de Reims and Chemin des Dames  (171 km) : starting from Reims.  Journey through Cathedral country to discover the vineyards of Champagne and the battlefields of rural Aisne

2           Between the Marne and Vineyards  (202 km): starting from Château-Thierry.  Exploring the hillside vineyards of the river Marne and its forest areas

3           The Great Lakes (173km) starting from Troyes. 

        From champagne vineyards to the forests and great lakes of the Aube

4           Along the Burgundy Canal (444km) starting from Nogent-sur-Seine.

Rolling hills, green valleys and the tranquility of lazy waterside routes

5           The Great Ardennes Massif route (401km) starting from Charleville-Mézières. 

A favourite playground for Belgian bikers!  Spectacular scenery and the gastro specialities of the French Ardenne

6      Around the Argonne region (284km) starting from Sainte-Ménehould.  

A quiet rural area steeped in Celtic legends that has seen several conflicts through the ages

7      The Aube and Haute-Marne route (420 km) starting from Langres.  

Winding country roads and historic highlights combined with wine & gastronomic heritage

A helpful factsheet is included with each section including information on the must-do museums, sites and monuments of the region, as well as great tips on where to eat and stay.     The 'Accueils Motards' certified label covers a number of hotels, holiday rentals, guest houses and other accommodation offering special facilities and services for bikers (secure parking, drying area, basic repair kits, tourism services etc) to ensure the best possible welcome.   Roadbooks #and accommodation details can be downloaded in English from the regional website www.champagne-ardenne-tourism.co.uk
