The South West Coastal Path ranks alongside some of the world's most famous treks, according to Lonely Planet's new Great Adventures book.
The South West Coastal Path is the only UK hike to make it into this highly respected guide and is one of 12 hikes chosen from across the globe, along with New Zealand's Milford Track, Chile's Torres del Paine and the Tour du Mont Blanc.
The guide says that "anyone who has ever walked the South West Coastal will attest, this is a truly breathtaking route with some of the finest scenery that you will ever see". The fact that the path remains unknown to many in the UK is a mystery as there are very few places in the world that could match the diverse and stunning nature of the 630 mile hike. For the less intrepid hikers amongst us the hike can be split into easily manageable chunks as well as family walks, pub walks, and easy access walks.
There are some fantastic locations along the path which totters along the cliff edge from Poole in Dorset around the Devon and Cornwall coast to Minehead in Somerset.
