Taiwan Launches Search for Student Cycling Ambassador

Taiwan Tourism Bureau

June 2015: The Taiwan Tourism Bureau has launched a European-wide search for a young cycling enthusiast to become an ambassador at one of Taiwan's biggest cycling events, the Formosa 900.

Taking place from November 14-22 2015, the Formosa 900 is one of the Taiwan's most popular cycling events, incorporating a nine-day round-island cycling tour. This tour is at a leisurely pace so as to ensure cyclists soak up the stunning landscape on the way, including the East Rift Valley which runs from north to south through the pristine Hualien and Taitung counties.

The Formosa 900 is just one of three events within Taiwan's annual Cycling Festival which also includes the 'Come! Bike Day;' a family friendly bike ride around the country's famous Sun Moon Lake, and the 'KOM Challenge;' a gruelling 105 kilometre mountain ascent starting at sea level and finishing at the summit of Hehuan Mountain in Huling.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau will this year sponsor a student to take part in the Formosa 900 and are looking for creative and innovated ideas of how the student will help promote Taiwan and its cycling to his/her peers, from blog posts and articles in University magazines or even an on-campus event. Interested applicants should email info@taiwantourism.de and detail why they should be the next 'Taiwan Cycling Ambassador.'

Although a small country in size, Taiwan has a huge cycling scene, with challenging mountains, beautiful coastal paths and stunning lakeside paths all waiting to be discovered.
