Located near the southern entrance into Yosemite National Park, SYMG provides outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to experience the High Sierra. With expert mountain guides known for “Backcountry Gourmet” menus and signature “Alpine Start” coffee, they have developed a reputation for offering a distinct approach to spending time in the backcountry.
SYMG offers a wide range of choices for spending three to twenty-three days in the backcountry. Their backpacking or pack-supported trips range from a three-day outing on Yosemite's North Rim to multi-week expeditions along the John Muir Trail. For visitors with less time, they offer single-day outings such as hiking along Yosemite's Mist Trail, experiencing the Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove, or tackling a rock climb on Southern Yosemite granite.
SYMG worked with local web designer Andrew Metz to develop a site designed with their guests in mind. SYMG is excited to provide guests an easy way to navigate to their adventure. Scrolling through the imagery of their 30+ departures will make any hiker, climber, or backpacker eager to book their next foray into the mountains of Yosemite or the High Sierra.
About Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides
SYMG was started in 1991 by three friends offering hiking trips into California's mountains in hopes of more closely meshing lifestyle with work. The combination proved successful and SYMG has become a leader in the active travel and mountain guiding world, providing carefully planned and executed trips in the most spectacular wilderness areas of California and beyond. Now, almost 30 years later, they have shown thousands of people the beauty of Yosemite and the High Sierra and have been named one of the "Best Outfitters on Earth" by National Geographic Adventure Magazine.
