A company of Sydney builders flown to the World Heritage listed Lord Howe Island are swapping their overalls for wetsuits and takeaways for table d'hôte cuisine. The team of builders who usually live in and around Sydney have landed a dream gig making renovations on the island's premium luxury getaway destination, Arajilla Retreat.

Closing up for the winter to undertake major renovations that will see a development of the spa and an upgrade on the luxury suites, Arajilla Retreat usually welcomes high-profile and seasoned travellers, with rates starting at $1,230 for a couple per night including all meals, pre-dinner drinks, transfers and an array of other special touches.

Far from their everyday grind on the mainland, when hanging up their hardhats each evening these unconventional guests are enjoying the top notch cuisine before retreating to the luxury of their suites.
