The Cidery Bar & Kitchen and Sydney Brewery Surry Hills are the proud home of two World Cider Award winners, with Manly Perry and Agave Ginger Cider taking out the World's Best titles at the World Cider Awards. The international awards were judged by a highly respected panel who identified the world's best ciders in five different categories. All entries were blind tasted and scored throughout three rounds of judging.
Securing the highest accolade in two of the five categories after the final tasting in London, Sydney Brewery is pleased to announce their newest winning titles;
'World's Best Perry'
Packed with freshly crushed Packham pears and fermented with champagne yeast, Manly Perry delivers a smooth pear flavour and crisp, clean finish.
'World's Best Flavoured Cider'
Blended with Sydney Cider, organic agave and ginger, Agave Ginger Cider is naturally sweet but at the same time raw, wild and spicy. Sydney Brewery celebrates apple cider, reinventing it with the authentic, colourful taste of Mexico.
Susanna Forbes, Chair of the Awards said: “The world of cider is in an exciting place, reaching out both to beer lovers and to the wine community. This is reflected in the quality and styles of our trophy winners, which emanate from three continents. While Melia in the Italian South Tyrol won the most hotly contested trophy, the one for sparkling cider, especial praise goes to Sydney Brewery for scooping two trophies, one for its Manly Perry and the other for its Agave Ginger Cider. With thanks to our outstanding panel of judges, we look forward to building on this year's success next year.”
As well as taste quality, design excellence was also judged, chaired by Felicity Murray, founder of TheDrinksReport.com. Samples were judged in five categories. Felicity said: “It always refreshing to see imaginative label designs and this year was no exception. The Judges were particularly impressed by the number of cider brands breaking away from the category norm with creative new ideas that stand out from the crowd.”
The award winning ciders are available at The Cidery Bar & Kitchen in Rydges World Square, and Sydney Brewery Surry Hills at Rydges Sydney Central.
