In true pioneering spirit, SwimTrek – the world's leading open-water swimming specialist – has launched a new expedition in 2016: swimming across Britain. Based in the awe-inspiring Scottish Highlands, the pioneering group will meet on the shore of Loch Linnhe aboard the Lady of Avenel (a 102ft Brigantine square rigger ship) their companion and accommodation for the week. Leaving Fort William the expedition will follow the Great Glen through the Lochs of Lochy, Oich and the iconic Loch Ness to reach their final destination and 'Swim Across Britain' finish line of Inverness on the Moray Firth.
The small group (maximum of 12) is led by experienced guides with full safety escorts. The daily swim distance average is 10km broken down in to individual swims of 2.5km to 5km swims. There are opportunities to stop and take in the beautiful Scottish landscape, either from aboard the Lady of Avenel, or during one of the four walks, which range in distance from 3km to 10km.
The 10-day expedition sets off on 11th July 2016. The price is £1,850 per person, based on twin share accommodation, which includes fully-guided expedition with safety escort, accommodation aboard the Lady of Avenel tall ship, all breakfasts, lunches and dinner. The price does not include flights or transport to or from the start point. Further details: +44 1273 739713, www.swimtrek.com
