Shangri-La Sydney

A wild world of colour, flavours and funky beats will collide at the much-anticipated return of the dessert festival of the year, Sweet Street, at Shangri-La hotel, Sydney on 8 July 2016.

The award-winning Executive Pastry Chef Anna Polyviou and her friends will lead festival goers on a wickedly decadent journey through street art, cool beats and sweet treats by Australia's most celebrated dessert chefs.

Sweet Street is all about collaboration and bringing my friends together to create an epic event where people have fun, eat a lot of dessert and meet sweet creators,” said Chef Polyviou.

The renowned dessert aficionados joining Polyviou include BlackStar Pastry, N2 Extreme Gelato, Doughnut Time, Butter, Bearded Bakers (Knafeh Bakery), Good Times Artisan Ice Cream, MakMak Macarons, Cacao Barry Kids and Thievery.

The hotel's Grand Ballroom will transform into a vibrant street-style festival with graffiti artists, break-dancers, drummers, professional skaters, sweet and savoury stalls, a photo booth, fabulous prizes and Polyviou's resident DJ, YO! MAFIA, spinning tunes.

This year, the new Kids Playground will feature a 10-year-old DJ, an 11-year-old electric drummer and a 4-year-old graffiti artist, along with kids' games and treats.

Sweet Street has also partnered with high-profile brands Cacao Barry, Ravifruit, Vittoria Coffee, MINI Garage Sydney, Majors Group, Kenwood, P&O Cruises, G-Shock, Staging Connections and Sugar Professional Artists Acrylic, as event sponsors.

Polyviou, the mohawked, multi-pierced, sneakered “Punk Princess of Pastry”, has a unique style in and out of the pastry kitchen which has revolutionised desserts and pastries within the hotel and across the country.

Her recent guest chef appearance on MasterChef Australia in May challenged contestants to recreate her decadent dessert Anna's Mess, which has 74 steps, nine elements and an eight-page recipe.  The dessert is available at a pop-up bar at Lobby Lounge until 11 July 2016.

Tickets to Sweet Street are $75 per person and include eight tokens to redeem at any sugar-laden stall.  For tickets, visit www.36LevelsAbove.com.au.
