05 Feb 2015
The Hurley Australian Open of Surfing will return to Sydney's iconic Manly Beach for nine days from 7-15 February 2015, showcasing the world's best surfers and skateboarders alongside a stellar music line up at Manly Beach, Sydney.
The Hurley Australian Open of Surfing brings some of the biggest names in surf and skate to Sydney shores. This year three-time World Surfing Champion and Aussie legend, Mick Fanning, Women's World Champion and current No.1, Steph Gilmore, along with the top five female surfers in the world will all go head to head on Sydney's shores.
Current No.4 surfer, Sally Fitzgibbons said: “I've grown up surfing and competing on Manly beach over the years and I love the special feel that the beach holds. So many historic moments in Australian Surfing live on Manly shores and it is always a proud feeling to follow in the footsteps of the legends before me and compete there.”
The inaugural Australian Open of Surfing in 2012 put Manly and Sydney on world surfing's centre stage and in 2015 the event is expected to attract an audience in excess of 175,000 people. The festival will once again show both Australia and the world that Manly not only has the best of Sydney's beach and surf culture, but that it also offers a vibrant food, wine and shopping scene.
