A new 11-day tour that takes in the very best of Margaret River’s surf, food and drink.

In April 2014, Australia’s premiere surfing, food and wine destination, Western Australia’s Margaret River, will play host to The World Surfing Tour. Bookshop Travel is taking a 12 day tour for just 20 guests, endorsed by Surfing WA, which includes surf lessons with some of Australia’s finest teachers, VIP access to The Drug Aware Pro Margaret River World Championship, and a series of exclusive behind-the-scenes food and wine experiences.

After a morning of riding the waves, under the careful instruction of local legends and surf instructors Josh Palmateer (aka Mr Surf and former ASP competitor) and Crystal Wallace of Yallingup Surf School, it’s time to watch the experts. From the VIP tent, tour guests will enjoy the best view of the world’s greatest surfers competing The Drug Aware Pro Margaret River World Championship Tour including: Kelly Slater and Stephanie Gilmour.

When it’s time to eat and drink, guests will have access to some of the most awarded wineries in the country at private bespoke events. Lunches and dinners, as well as tastings, will be hosted by some of the region’s finest wine makers including Fraser Gallop, Leeuwin Estate and Cullen. Cooking demonstrations and classes with the region’s most awarded chefs, and fellow surfers, Aaron Carr of Vasse Felix and Tony Howard of Cape Lodge will add a hands-on element to the tour.

Tour leader Carli Ratcliff is a keen surfer and an award-winning food writer. She is well acquainted with the Margaret River region and when she is not in the water, honing her skills with you, she will be introducing you to the best winemakers and chefs in the region.
