Sunsail To Open New Watersports Beach Resort In Turkey For 2006 Season

Sunsail

Sunsail, the market leader in watersports beach resorts, flotilla sailing and yacht charter holidays, is to open a new resort in Turkey in the spring of next year, bringing the total number in Turkey to four. Sunsail also operates three watersports beach resorts in Greece and one year-round resort in Antigua.

The new club, to be known as Club Phokaia, is situated about one hours drive from Izmir on Turkeys Aegean coast near the small village of Eski Foca. The new club benefits from a beautiful location in a secluded bay with 800 metres of private beach and the hotel itself is surrounded by extensive, lusciously green gardens. Cross-shore winds of force 2 to 5 will make the new club ideal for all sailing abilities, from beginners to experts alike.

With a total of 174 air-conditioned en-suite rooms, the club can accommodate over 400 guests in a mixture of twin, double and triple rooms, family rooms, as well as 4 apartments and 8 villas. With a ratio of 2 staff to every 3 guests, Sunsail customers visiting Club Phokaia can expect first class service, both on shore and afloat.

This winter will see an extensive refurbishment programme including the construction of brand new Minnows and Snappers childrens club nurseries to OFSTED standards for the youngest children, and new club facilities for the teenagers Gybers and Beach Team will also be built.

Also forming part of the construction programme will be the Serenity health and beauty sanctuary for beauty treatments and massages with three treatment rooms, new kitchens, 2 new bars, a beach snack bar and 2 new tennis courts.

Already existing are a 500 square metre Olympic sized swimming pool, an indoor pool and a separate childrens pool. As well as free sailing in dinghies, windsurfers and day yachts, Sunsail customers will be able to enjoy tennis, mountain biking, waterskiing, ringo rides, a fitness centre, basketball, 5-a-side soccer, mini-golf, a sauna and a proper Hammam Turkish Bath. There is also a hairdressing salon and five on-site shops.

Sunsails new Club Phokaia also boasts its own traditional Turkish Gulet which will be available for local trips on the water, and clients will also be able to take land-based excursions to the ancient classical city of Ephesus, the fortified city of Pergamon and the natural springs at Pamukkale.

Flights to Sunsails new Club Phokaia will be with First Choice Airways from London Gatwick to Izmir.

Commenting on adding and eighth club to the Sunsail programme, Matt West, Managing Director of Sunsail Clubs Activity and Watersports Resorts and Sunsail Flotillas, said: -

Club Phokaia is a great addition to Sunsails increasing portfolio of high quality watersports beach resorts. We have looked long and hard to find an hotel with the right mix of facilities that will enable our customers to enjoy both top quality shore-side accommodation and the full range of activities that we now offer at our resorts, and Club Phokaia has it all.

We look forward to welcoming customers, both old and new, at what we know will be a first class resort and one to which they will want to return time and time again.
