Celebrating its 41st birthday in 2013, the world famous Siesta Sand Sculpture Contest is once again hitting the Gulf Coast of Florida on Saturday 4th May 2013 and inviting visitors of all ages to be king of their castle! A perfect excuse for mums and dads to bond with their kids, learn a new quirky skill, and enjoy some healthy competition on a beach holiday with a difference.
The Siesta Sand Sculpture Contest is a free contest for both professionals and public participation so the entire family can pick up their bucket and spades and get involved. There will be sand sculpting demonstrations and lessons to teach tricks - like how to mix the right amount of sand and water to build anything from traditional castles, so little girls can pretend to be princesses, to sports cars for the boys! There are only 75 'Master Sculptors' in the states and the next new talent could be discovered this year!
Siesta Beach, located on the award-winning Siesta Key, was awarded the 'best beach in the US' by beach expert Stephen Leatherman (aka Dr Beach). Siesta Key is famous for its icing-sugar white sand made of 99% quartz, perfect for forming sculptures and creating masterpieces. Along with year-round sunshine and crystal clear shallow waters, this beach promises a haven for families looking for not just relaxation, but a unique learning experience.
Seven nights at Beach Palms on Siesta Key costs from £1,220 per adult and £625 per child, based on two adults and two children (2-11 years) travelling. This includes fully inclusive intermediate car hire and return flights from London Gatwick to Tampa with British Airways based on travel on Wednesday 1st May 2013.
