Is the Mediterranean on your agenda for this summer? Whether escorted or self-guided, on foot or by bike, European activity holiday specialist UTracks has a number of new trips, from Spain and France to Slovenia and Turkey…
SPAIN | Food Lover's Catalonia [NEW FOR 2015]
While the focus is on the food, this trip could also easily be described as the best of Catalonia. Travel from Barcelona to the Pyrenees and along Costa Brava to absorb the local food and wine traditions while taking in some of the best walks the region has to offer. Highlights include: sourcing fresh produce for your Catalan cooking class at the famous Boqueria Market; 'tapas crawling' with a local expert through the Gothic Quarter; wine and cheese tasting at a high altitude vineyard; and dining in a Michelin starred restaurant known for its slow food and 'km zero' philosophy.

• Food Lover's Catalonia (9 days) departs in September, from £1,790 per person
FRANCE | Highlights of the Languedoc by Bike [NEW FOR 2015]
With more vineyards than Bordeaux, glorious coastline characterised by long sandy beaches and numerous ancient sites, Languedoc-Roussillon, the southernmost region of mainland France, provides a spectacular setting for this new self-guided cycle. From the canal ways of Sète on the Mediterranean and on to Avignon, the route travels along the coast to the university city of Montpellier and through the Camargue natural area, as well as Arles, which inspired many painters over the centuries, and Nîmes for a glimpse into medieval times.

• Highlights of the Languedoc by Bike (8 days) departs May-August, from £790 per person
ITALY | Puglia Guided Walk [NEW FOR 2015]
Fancy spending a couple of nights at a traditional 'trullo', with its typical conical roof? Puglia, Italy's 'heel' and its gateway to the Orient, is a land forged in history, most famous for the village of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that feels lost in time. Historically cut off from the rest of Italy (there is no Ferrovie dello Stato or national railway), it has gained international fame for its ancient town, the 'Sassi di Matera', one of the first human settlements in Italy. The houses here are dug into the rock and the streets in some parts are located on the rooftops of other houses! www.utracks.com/index.php?section=trips&id=2676051
• Puglia Guided Walk (8 days) departs May-November, from £990 per person
SLOVENIA | Cycle Slovenia and the Parenzana [NEW FOR 2015]
Slovenia encompasses a wealth of stunning natural features, from the high peaks of the Julian Alps to the incredible limestone caves, mountain lakes and traditional countryside. In addition to taking in all of these highlights – you will cycle around Lake Bled, raft on the Soca River and visit the Škocjan Caves – this new cycle journey continues along the Parenza Rail Trail. This old disused railway line now caters to cyclists and walkers, extending from Trieste in Italy to Porec in Croatia, where your trip concludes as you cycle past fragrant olive groves and lush vineyards.

TURKEY | Cappadocia on Foot [NEW FOR 2015]
A new, shorter itinerary of one of UTracks' most popular trips, this is a comprehensive, 5-day exploration of Cappadocia's lunar landscape. For millions of years the volcanoes of the Central Anatolian Plateau erupted creating unique rock formations and fairy chimneys where, through the centuries, different civilisations carved out houses and churches. The eventual underground cities left behind a natural and historical legacy that still is a focal point for visitors, while interspersed amongst these relics is a living culture of traditional villages and spectacular river valleys.
