Whilst Mike Leigh waits anxiously to hear whether he's won the Palme d'Or in Cannes for 'Mr Turner', visitors to the boutique Sands hotel in Margate - can catch those fiery Turner sunsets for real from the hotel's open rooftop bar.
The stylish bar offers an uninterrupted view of the fabled horsheshoe bay and also happens to be about the only place on the eastern seaboard where you can enjoy sunuppers and sundowners from the same seat!
The Sands - which only opened last July – together with the Turner Contemporary and the bijoux galleries that have sprung up in the revitalised old town, have restored Margate to its rightful place as hipster Londoners favourite weekend escape hatch.
The Sands is offering a Special Summer of Colour half-board package (including three-course dinner) coinciding with the Mondrian and Colour exhibition (May 24 2014 - September 21) at the Turner Contemporary, from £85pp. Further information: The Sands Hotel: 01843 228228; www.sandshotelmargate.co.uk
