Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air Amphitheatre that is not duplicated anywhere in the world. With Mother Nature as the architect, the design of the Amphitheatre consists of two, three hundred-foot monoliths (Ship Rock and Creation Rock) that provide acoustic perfection for any performance. The area of Red Rocks, originally known as the Garden of Angels, has attracted the attention of musical performers since before the turn of the century. The majestic setting of the Amphitheatre, along with the panoramic view of Denver, makes for a breathtaking scene. Summer concerts include: Big Head Todd and the Monsters Rise Against with Rancid & Riverboat Gamblers John Prine / Levon Helm David Byrne with Devotchka John Denver - The Tribute Mormon Tabernacle Choir with Orchestra at Temple Square Depeche Mode with Peter Bjorn & John For detailed event listings visit www.redrocksonline.com Colorados National Parks Majestic and Mesmerising Each one of Colorados National Parks is stunning and so different; its hard to believe they are in the same state. Visiting any one of these National Parks makes a summer holiday in Colorado an experience both memorable as well as spiritual!
A few quick facts to consider: Rocky Mountain National Park The scenery here is achingly beautiful, much too good to rush and youll find your self wanting to stop at the numerous scenic view points. Try a number of hiking trails, as well as horse riding western-style through the wilderness keeping an eye out for the wildlife, elk, moose, coyotes, mountain lions, black bears and big-horn sheep. 09/06/2009 Colorado eMarketing dottourism.com//march09/ 5/7 Great Sand Dunes National Park Is the newest national park, at only 5 years old! These 750 foot mountains of sand seem so out of place that you might think they are man-made, however they are the real thing. The sand dunes are popular for hiking, ski-ing and snowboarding - with or without snow. Or, of course, or you could just build a sand castle! Mesa Verde National Park Is the only one dedicated to archaeology. Mesa Verde is Spanish for green table and it was home to the Ancient Puebloan Indians for 700 years. The mystery of why the tribes left the area never to return still remains to this day. The Mesa Verde is a World Cultural Heritage Site. Many of the cliffdwellings can be visited; they are evocative, haunting places that pose many more questions than there will ever be answers. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park Is called Black Canyon because its black /grey in colour and because daylight barely penetrates the canyon floor 2,000 feet below. What the parks name doesnt convey is the drama of the landscape. Its unforgettable, beautiful and inspiring, yet foreboding and demanding respect. It is a mecca for outdoor adventure enthusiasts and those just wanting to see, for them themselves, the sublime beauty of Mother Nature.
