Sukosol Hotels Reveal Plans for New Charity Programme, to Launch with Annual Charity Concert

Sukosol Hotels

Sukosol Hotels, the award-winning family run group of five hotels in Thailand, have revealed plans for a new charity programme, which will launch following this year's annual Sukosol Charity Concert. The Sukosol Hotels Charity Programme will benefit the Thai Red Cross Society's Princess Sirindhorn Chulalongkorn Craniofacial Center, to help with their invaluable work providing free operations and care to underprivileged Thai children with facial deformities.

The programme will include a monthly lunch hosted by Sukosol Hotels, in aid of the fund. Guests of Sukosol Hotels will be able to visit the Princess Sirindhorn Chulalongkorn Craniofacial Center during their visit to Bangkok, and invited to donate in any way they choose, should they wish to do so. In addition to raising funds to enable operations to take place, Sukosol Hotels will sponsor visits for parents so that they can spend time with their children during the recovery period. The highlight of the programme will be the annual charity concert, headlined by Kamala Sukosol, president of Sukosol Hotels, and her talented family: daughters, Marisa and Daranee; granddaughter, Natalia; and sons, Sukie and Noi (Krissada Sukosol).

A tireless fundraiser, named as Forbes Asia's 'Hero of Philanthropy in 2009, Kamala Sukosol began the Sukosol charity concerts in 1982. The concerts, and her many albums, are extremely popular in Thailand and have raised over 60 Million baht in aid of various charities in Thailand.

The Sukosol family's relationship with Thai Red Cross links back to 1998 and to date 36 Million baht has been donated. The Craniofacial Center is a cause particularly close to Kamala

Sukosol's heart and, as ambassador, she has been fundraising on their behalf for over seven years. Kamala was moved to support this cause because it suffers from a lack of awareness and is in particular need of funding, relying on surgeons to donate their time for free. The non-profit organization is dedicated to caring for children with severe craniofacial deformities, many of whom live in distant rural areas in poverty. Treatment can involve a long series of consultations, investigations, surgeries and therapies, which can go on into adulthood.

This year, the charity concert series is entitled 'New York, New York' and will run from August 1-3 at The Sukosol, Bangkok. Thailand's First Lady of Swing Music, Kamala Sukosol, and the Sukosol family will be joined on stage by a 20-piece big band orchestra under the direction of Piti Kayoonpan. Special guests will include well-known Thai singer Dolchai Boonyaratavej, and outstanding artists from the Aree School of Dance Arts, with guest choreographer, Eiko Asakawa.

The concert's unique songbook will pay homage to some of New York's most memorable songs and performers and include classic Broadway hits from Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Wicked and Chicago. Highlights will include Kamala Sukosol's brand new version of 'New York, New York', accompanied by the high kicking Rockettes. There will also be modern hits, 'Girl on Fire', and 'We Are Young'.

Kamala's vision is to incorporate charity into Sukosol Hotels in a fun and accessible way. She firmly believes business is pleasure: 'We must be passionate about what we do and do it with love, integrity and sincerity'.

Fondly dubbed the 'musical hoteliers' of Thailand, the Sukosol family are a multi-lingual, multi-tasking, multi-skilled, multi-talented business dynasty. They are inspired by the perfect balance of individuality, gracious service, cultural charm and a sense of serendipity. It is this unique mix that they aim to offer their guests at all of their properties in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand.
