Successful First Quarter 2010 for WORLDHOTELS Double digit growth in room nights and revenue across all channels

WorldHotels

One of the worlds leading groups of independent hotels, WORLDHOTELS, is reporting a buoyant start to 2010, with double digit growth in revenue and room nights.

In line with our Raising the Bar Strategy 2010, we have launched numerous initiatives for all target groups in order to grow business for our hotels, says Robert Hornman, Managing Director of WORLDHOTELS. For example, we have an incentive for MICE agents, special offers for consumers or favourable rates for corporate clients. Our figures for the first quarter show that our group has emerged from the challenges of last year healthy and on the path of continued growth.

As a result of the various initiatives and the increasingly positive climate in the tourism industry, WORLDHOTELS has boosted its total room night production and revenue by 30% in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the same period last year.

In terms of individual booking channels, this means a double digit growth in revenue and room night production across all channels. For example WORLDHOTELS was able to increase its room nights booked via the global distribution systems (GDS) by 20%, via call centres by 86%, via its booking engine Resmaster by 92% and via its website (www.worldhotels.com) by 113%.

Looking at the GDS production of hotels which were part of the portfolio of WORLDHOTELS in Q1 2008 and Q1 2009 (same store portfolio), a particularly significant increase in room nights was generated for properties in Tokyo (+80%), Singapore (+102%), New York (+88%), Frankfurt (+46%) and London (+39%).

In addition, the hotel group also enlarged its GDS market share in a number of destinations, especially Lisbon, Stockholm, Basel, Tokyo and Singapore.

In the first quarter 2010, WORLDHOTELS also kicked-off its ambitious expansion plan with the target to add 100 new hotels to its global portfolio this year. With 27 hotels already newly contracted since January, the company is well on the way to reach its goal. Among the new hotels are the Royal Garden Hotel in Londons Kensington, the Milano Scala in Milan, the Newhotel Marseille, the Hotel Fabian in Helsinki and two of the most spectacular hotels of the brand new CityCenter project in Las Vegas, the Aria Hotel & Casino and the Vdara Resort & Spa.

We are very satisfied with the results of the first quarter 2010, comments Robert Hornman. We even surpassed our room night production of 2008, the year before the economic slowdown, by 9%. With various initiatives and programmes yet to be launched in 2010, we anticipate our revenue to surpass last years results by at least 25%.
