HOLLYWOOD, CA—Starline Tours, the oldest and largest sightseeing tour company in Los Angeles, is now home of the world's largest CitySightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour. With the addition of two new routes on the CitySightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Double Decker City Tour in April 2013, Starline Tours' coverage expands to more than 100 miles of touring routes. The popularity of these iconic buses is growing with locals and tourists alike, with more than 300,000 passengers expected to use the CitySightseeing Los Angeles service in 2013.
Always a favorite of international visitors who already have an understanding of Hop-on Hop-off services in most of the world's major cities - especially in Europe -the domestic segment of Starline's Hop-On Hop-Off business is now growing rapidly. "More Americans are becoming familiar with the Hop-On Hop-Off concept and are choosing this mode of touring and transportation over renting a car and hunting for parking spaces," says Philip Ferentinos, director of Starline Tours, adding, "the service works nowhere better in America than in sunny LA." The two new routes offer new stops at LAX hotels, Fisherman's Village, Marina del Rey, Venice (Pier, Beach and Boardwalk), and Santa Monica. From Santa Monica, passengers can then connect on to Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and Hollywood using the existing tour routes. The narrated commentary (in English and eight other languages) is now delivered via new personal ear buds for passengers to use and keep.
Starline has also recently launched a new website dedicated to the CitySightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off service (www.citysightseeingla.com). Visitors can plan their days in advance, using the site to peruse attractions, museums, shopping, dining and outdoor activities. The website features new recommended itineraries by theme including Movies/TV Film Spots, Family Fun, Shopping, Discount Shopping and Celebrity Dining. There is also a useful Google Maps feature for each of the stops which allows the passenger to enter their hotel address and receive street directions to the nearest stop, where they can board the bus and start their journey (tickets are available directly from the driver.) A Twitter feed on the home page keeps track of potential celebrity sighting possibilities at events such as Hollywood premieres and Walk of Fame ceremonies. Downloadable maps and timetables are also available.
California's picture-perfect climate allows for tours in open-top double-decker buses for visitors to drink in the scenery as well as the dreamy weather while listening to the fun and informative tour narration. A 24-hour unlimited ticket is $44 for adults and $25 for youth 3-11, available from the driver or www.citysightseeingla.com and a 48-hour unlimited ticket is $59 for adults and $35 for youth. There is an incentive for buying the 48-hour - free admission to Madame Tussauds Hollywood when purchased online at either www.citysightseeingla.com or www.starlinetours.com A family of five (two adults and three children) really save with a Family ticket, $125 for 24 hours and $170 for 48 hours.
As if the weather, seen-in-movies locations and the no-hassle transportation isn't enough, Starline Tours makes the tour ticket worth a bundle. Called "Show and $ave", passengers simply show their valid Hop-On Hop-Off bus ticket for immediate admission discounts, two-for-one entry and extras at more than 30 museums and attractions throughout the greater Los Angeles area (the company also gives "Show & $ave" deals on many of its own tours, including the Malibu Stars' Homes Tour.)
