Spring Forward to a Floral Easter at Cornwall's Budock Vean

Budock Vean Hotel

A spectacular array of Cornish blooms is poised to burst open at one of the UK's finest country house hotels, making the Budock Vean near Falmouth a perfect Spring-board to an Easter break among the world-famous ravine gardens of the Helford River.

Magnolias and camellias, azaleas and rhododendron all thrive in the 65-acre Budock Vean estate as well as the neighbouring gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan - where members of the Fox family introduced exotic plants from across the globe into their own valley micro-climates two centuries ago.

Guests of the luxury, family run hotel are surrounded by their own seasonal blaze of colour across the organically managed sub-tropical gardens - living proof that valleys, lawns, orchards and even golf courses don't need endless pesticides to look their stunning best.

“Springtime in general and Easter in particular is a wonderful time to be here on the banks of the Helford River,” says the Budock Vean's Martin Barlow. “The colours are so fresh and vibrant after the long winter and it's great to find some milder weather and get out and about in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

Budock Vean guests have a special discount at both Trebah and Glendurgan gardens – and among the more quirky local Easter traditions which guests are welcome to join in is the hand-picking of shellfish from the Helford riverbed on Good Friday – known locally as “trigging”.

At the Budock Vean itself the three-night Easter stay, from Friday 14 to Monday 17 April, includes a children's Easter egg hunt, a golf competition and team quiz, a local guided walk and lessons in scone making with the kitchen team. Four course dinners, full Cornish breakfasts and afternoon tea and cakes are also included in prices which start at £345 per person for the three nights or £417 per person in a Signature Room.

Guests have full use of all the hotel's leisure facilities including the large pool, outdoor hot tub, tennis courts, and golf course – and there are ultimate wind-downs to be found among the luxury treatments offered by the Natural Health Spa team.
