The Spirit Doctor is a new specialist tour operator offering 10-day small group trips through the heart of the outback in Australias Northern Territory for people interested in personal growth and healing and who wish to connect with the spiritual energy of the land, as well as those who wish to learn more about the indigenous culture of this fascinating land.
Guided walks and discussions with Aboriginal people, meditation sessions and the art of Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese health practice said to help increase the flow of energy through the body, are combined with magnificent sites of cultural and spiritual significance located throughout the Northern Territory, to create a whole new travel experience.
Tour leader, Dr Daniel Houtman BSc, MA, OMD, who has been helping people around the world for the past 30 years with physical, mental and spiritual issues, guides participants on an enlightening and scenic journey into the bush and red desert between Darwin and Alice Springs.
Dr Houtman comments: My aim is to help people deal with life issues by creating experiences that aid in their personal and spiritual development. I make people aware that there is something greater than us and help them connect with that greatness to reach their full potential.
The first stop on each tour is Katherine Gorge, located 350kms south of Darwin, where a two-hour cruise through Nitmuluk National Park and the spectacular Katherine Gorge, begins to uncover the rugged landscape of the Northern Territory and sets the scene for the remainder of this unusual trip. Highlights include a private tour of the ancient Cutta Cutta Caves followed by a meditation session in the tranquil surroundings and a relaxing dip in the Bitter Springs thermal pools at Mataranka.
At Tennant Creek, participants have the opportunity to join a guided walk into the bush with an Aboriginal guide who will point out how bush tucker and medicine can be found in this seemingly barren land, if one knows where to look. Of course, a trip of this kind would not be complete without a visit to Uluru (Ayers Rock), the spiritual icon of Australia. Participants are given the opportunity to hear direct from the traditional owners of the land, the Anangu, about why Uluru is such a sacred place and to enjoy the special experience of joining a meditation session at the base of the mighty monolith.
The 10-day tours, which operate one every month between April and September, also include the Devils Marbles, Alice Springs, Kata-Tjuta (the Olgas), and Kings Canyon, as well as traditional Warumungu dancing and singing.
The price of AU$2,999 (approx. 1,200) per person, includes accommodation (tents in the dry season and hotels in the wet season), transport, park entry fees and meals on nine of the ten days, but excludes international flights.
The next tour departs on August 23rd until September 1st. For further information about The Spirit Doctor tours visit www.thespiritdoctor.com.au and for further details on the Northern Territory visit www.ntholidays.com. -ENDS-
