A full weekend of fall events will take place in Westchester County over the weekend of Saturday, September 18th and Sunday, September 19th, providing great opportunities for families to get together and celebrate the historic Hudson River and the towns that grace its shores. Some of the highlighted events of the September 18-19 weekend include:
� Hudson Ferry-Go-Round: During this debut event, ferries will transport residents and visitors between Peekskill, Ossining, Tarrytown, Yonkers and Haverstraw to enjoy downtown shopping, dining, sightseeing and special events within each town. Free trolley service will transport riders between ferry landings and most downtowns. Ferries will operate, free of charge, in a continuous loop. The public can board on a first-come, first-served basis, every 30 minutes. The event will be held in conjunction with the Hudson River Valley Ramble Walking Weekend, an annual weekend trails festival of nature walks, biking and kayaking throughout the Hudson Valley Region. Saturday, September 18th, 10 am to 10 pm, ferries will connect all five communities, and Sunday, September 19th, 10 am to 5pm, they will connect just Ossining, Peekskill and Haverstraw. � Crafts at Lyndhurst: An annual fair featuring over 300 booths filled with fine handmade American crafts ranging from pottery to jewelry, furniture to clothing. These fine products represent the dazzling work of artisans from across the country on the grounds of the nation�s most magnificent Gothic mansion. Friday, September 17th, 10 am to 5 pm; Saturday, September 18th, 10 am to 6 pm; and Sunday, September 19th, 10 am to 5 pm. On Saturday, Hudson Ferry-Go-Round will provide free ferry service between Yonkers, Tarrytown and Haverstraw, and free trolley rides from the Tarrytown waterfront to Crafts at Lyndhurst. � Yonkers Riverfest: The 12th annual festival of live entertainment, games, vendors, educational and environmental exhibits, delicious international cuisine and more. Games to entertain children and adults will be accompanied by fantastic arts and crafts displays lining the streets of downtown Yonkers. Fireworks will begin at 9 pm on the riverfront. � Ferry Festa: A day filled with fun for all members of the family. Kids can enjoy pony rides and a train-ride running through the Festa, and a basketball tournament will be held. There will be over 150 vendors this year including local organizations and out-of-town participants selling arts and crafts, food and more. The Dobbs Ferry Downtown Improvement Committee will be presenting an afternoon street fair filled with food, games, live music, an arts and crafts show, games and a petting zoo. � Yonkers Marathon: The second oldest marathon in the United States (after the Boston Marathon) will be returning to Yonkers, and is free to spectators. The full marathon will begin at 8:30 am, and the half marathon at 8:45 am, both starting and finishing at the Yonkers City Recreation Pier. Running in the direction of traffic through the streets of Yonkers and Hastings-on-Hudson, the official clock will run for 5 hours. Registration for runners will take place on race day until 8 am. � Celebrate Ossining: A festival celebrating the �Then & Now of Ossining, Briarcliff Manor and Scarborough.� Events include history tours of the Double Arch and Weir Chamber of the Croton Aqueduct, the Ossining Heritage Area Museum, and a walking tour of historic Sparta. Entertainment will include continuous musical performances, both instrumental and vocal, dance, poetry, and drama by local talent. A wide variety of ethnic foods will be offered. Local craftspeople, artists and businesses will also be showcasing their talents, products and services. Hudson Ferry-Go-Round will provide free ferry service connecting Ossining to Peekskill and Haverstraw and free trolley rides from the Ossining waterfront to downtown.
