Kangaroo Island's acclaimed Southern Ocean Lodge has been ranked as the fourth top hotel in the world in the prestigious Travel + Leisure 2014 World's Best Awards.

The luxury lodge was also named number one resort in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, the second time Southern Ocean Lodge has been bestowed with that title.

The rankings were announced last night by Travel + Leisure magazine and will be celebrated at an award ceremony in New York on July 24.

Southern Ocean Lodge was given an overall ranking of 92.27, making it the only Australian property named in the top 100 hotels.

Baillie Lodges Managing Director James Baillie said the Travel + Leisure ranking was one of the most prestigious awards the lodge had received.
