The South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation has appointed highly experienced tourism marketer Lynne Hocking as its Executive Manager, ahead of what looks set to be a particularly busy summer for tourism in the region.
The appointment of Ms. Hocking to the newly created role comes as South Coast tourism operators, spanning a geographical area f r o m Wollongong to Eden, put the finishing touches on their preparations for the peak tourist season which officially commences in a few weeks.
Ms. Hocking brings with her over 30 years of experience in the Australian tourism industry, including product development with a specialty in online marketing and social media. She has held international marketing roles for Rydges Hotel and Resorts and has extensive international tourism experience, including being responsible for marketing Australia to the Middle East (Gulf Countries) and Russia during her tenure at Tourism Australia.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Hocking says she is extremely passionate about the value of tourism to Australia: “The South Coast is one of the most beautiful places we have to showcase in this country and there's a plethora of attractions and experiences to draw both domestic and international visitors here – providing enormous support for our local economy as a result. I'm delighted to be on board and look forward to considering how to best reach out to new markets and adopt smarter marketing strategies.”
South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation Chair, Mr. Brian Longbottom says the South Coast region continues to experience exponential growth in terms of tourism visitation, even during the off peak times.
“There really is no “off peak” season for tourism on the South Coast and the Executive Manager role will take charge of ensuring we maximise all the opportunities the South Coast has to attract tourists to our beautiful part of the world all year round, not just in the warmer months.”
