The NSW Government today officially welcomed to Sydney South Africa's ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 team at iconic Bondi Beach, ahead of the team's ICC Cricket World Cup match on Friday 27 February.
A short ceremony was held at the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club in honour of the team where the Captain, AB de Villiers, was presented with a custom-made surfboard and invited to try his hand at the local past-time.
The team then took to Bondi Beach to meet local Surf Lifesavers and play beach cricket with some local Nippers (junior lifesavers).
South Africa will take on the West Indies at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday 27 February in its first Sydney match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
Five matches will be played at the SCG during the tournament including a clash between Australia and Sri Lanka on 8 March 2015. The iconic ground will host both a quarter and semi-final.
