SONOMA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — There is progress in containing the wildfires in Sonoma County, California.
Status of fire containment in Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino counties: Tubbs Fire, 25 percent; Atlas Fire, 27 percent; Nuns Fire, 5 percent; Sulphur Fire, 55 percent; Pocket Fire, 5 percent; Redwood Fire, 10 percent; Partrick Fire, 18 percent; and Pressley Fire, 10 percent. The fires are limited to eastern Sonoma County – parts of Sonoma Valley, Santa Rosa, and Geyserville.
The Sonoma County Winegrowers report the 2017 winegrape harvest was more than 90 percent complete, with the juice in the tanks, when the fires started. Some reports have erroneously said the entire harvest was lost.
“Right now, our main concern is the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors,” said Tim Zahner, interim CEO of Sonoma County Tourism. “We are working to ensure the information on www.SonomaCounty.com/fire is accurate and up to date. Please continue to check back for information.”
Sonoma County Tourism and the hospitality industry are continuing to monitor the current wildfires.
Stories of neighbors helping neighbors have been filtering in. Restaurants are feeding first responders and evacuees. Hotels, inns, and vacation rentals are opening their doors throughout the impacted areas and beyond.
“People are showing the best of Wine Country hospitality to each other” Zahner said. “We will continue to provide updates on our website.”
