12 Oct 2017
The Sonoma County Tourism office in Santa Rosa is currently closed on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by the fires in Sonoma, Napa, Lake and Mendocino Counties.
Several fires are currently burning in Sonoma County, in both urban and rural areas.
The fires are mainly in eastern Sonoma County – parts of Sonoma Valley and Santa Rosa. The fires and fire damage isn't spread throughout the entire county.
Sonoma County is very large - more than one million acres in size.
The majority of Sonoma County businesses remain open. Please call to verify their status.
If you are planning a visit later in October and beyond - please know that we will update you via this website and our social media channels. The North Bay will be ready to welcome you and we are thankful for your business.
The County of Sonoma has been updating a map of the fires; find out the latest at http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Home.
Visitors who are in Sonoma County, please refer to local media (KSRO.com, or 1350-AM on the radio, or www.pressdemocrat.com) or the Sonoma County sheriff office updates at www.nixle.us/sonoma-county-sheriffs-office. To receive updates and alerts, text the ZIP code of your location to 888-777.
If you've planned a trip to the area, please contact your lodging provider before traveling, to see if it's located in an affected area. If you are flying into Sonoma County airport, please contact your airline to ensure commercial flights are operating.
Sonoma County Tourism staff is assessing damages sustained to tourism businesses and will provide updates as more information is available. Visit SonomaCounty.com/fires. This will be updated as information is available.

The Community Foundation of Sonoma County's Resilience Fund :
Community Foundation Sonoma County has launched the Sonoma County Resilience Fund to address the mid to long-term needs of our community. As funders with over 30 years of experience in grantmaking in Sonoma County, we will rely on our thorough due diligence process to identify and vet organizations to receive funding. While we cannot yet predict what the greatest needs will be, in other communities recovery efforts have included basic needs as well as longer term economic, health and social supports. Examples have included support for renters, case management services, animal welfare and capacity-building for nonprofits taking on new or expanded roles in disaster relief.
Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief
Redwood Credit Union (RCU), in partnership with RCU Community Fund, The Press Democrat, and Senator Mike McGuire, is now accepting financial donations to aid relief efforts and assist victims of the 2017 North Bay fires. 100% of your donations will go directly to support those affected by the fires.
Because the devastating fires affected numerous counties, you will have the opportunity to donate to the county of your choosing, including Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake County. You may also choose to donate to all counties (your funds will be distributed equally among all four counties).
